| | Wow, prostitute rolls in 5 years? Only time will tell, but I'd have to say that that would prove to be one helluva swing from girl next door to prostitute next door! Stranger things have happened though, so we'll have to wait and see... |

| | Well, I have found that Aya is starting to be openly criticized for her lack of acting talent, least last time I checked. She is still one of the top commercial queen's in Japan, for whatever that is worth for cultivating her actual talent and building on it. Her life appears to be pretty hollow as far as her actual acting merits, although I still honestly believe that she can do good work if she is actually pushed and directed, EXPECTED! To do something aside from "look cute". Her TV shows have been getting Chiaki type ratings lately and concerns are starting to creep up that people are getting tired of her and her "cuteness". Either way, I did see the Oronomin commercial with her and Jackie Chan, which was funny. |

| Hello Geesehoward,
your post is a sort of cursed ghost, we already have been sensiblized about this weird situation. nobody will say that Aya is not a popular personality, she dominate a part of the market place. but some person have doubt about her capacities.
as you said, depending of the director, she can do something really personal and this this is quite convincing, but if her job is to smile and have silly maners, people will think it's only that she can succeed.
strangely, I have a fear about how her managers will deal with this situation in the future. could they have a solid reflexion like : OK, Aya is no longuer a kid, she's still smiling, what about giving her some image destructive roles, in order to install her in a more confortable situation.

| Hey BC!?
You are absolutely right. Over on the Chiaki Fandom Forum I've had people come clean about the fact that the oversaturation is absolutely killing her career, and it was during this that Zero Gravity posted some stats for commercials and the top earning J-entertainers...
Aya was at the top of the list with an ungodly amount of commercial TV time in Japan, solely for the commercials she appears in, absolutely crazy to be on the TV in some way, shape or form, for that much time! Everyone agreed that even in Japan, the taste of the J-TV audience is getting more and more fickle, finally. So they're simply not going for being browbeaten over the head with the same person day-after-day with nothing to see actually being done by that person but, as you said, smile and act silly. It's empty and ratings in Japan are down just like the American economy!
I posted an article on the Forum by a Japanese actor who has really gotten some good reviews for his role as Genghis Khan. He talked about how bad it is for Japanese actresses in Japan, bluntly clarifying what I have already said for years. Aya will not be challenged until she tanks, as far as her image and then, as you already had an article up at one point that talked about how the talent agents wager who will pose nude, etc. Aya will then attempt risky roles solely to spark her career and then it will probably fail too. |
