Aya Matsuura (Japan)

Last year Matsuura suffered from TMJ which is muscle spasm in jaw, I know this stress-related illness very well personally. She overcame this with relaxation techniques, but too much stress and this can happen again!

For her future: I know GAM will continue for some time, because Fujimoto and Matsuura are special friends and they wanted to sing together for many years. They are scheduled for special concert series in Hawaii during September, trips are being sold in Japan for several days in Hawaii including concert. GAM first album is released, I have this album and I think it is THE BEST H!P album ever, these are really great songs produced in adult manner, and these two voices are wonderful together.

Farther future: I hope Matsuura will become jazz singer, and I hope Fujimoto will become R&B singer like her idol Namie Amuro, I think this is best for both of them and for audience too! These are the two best singers in H!P and they must be allowed to grow up!

if nothing odd appears, we should enjoy more pictures of both of them. these are pretty nice pictures, worth watching.

I've recieved another Utaban TV show dedicated to Aya, not the one in which she learns dancing but one with an adorable puppy.

the puppy actually was licking Aya's nose and both seem happy to be together. this is an occasion to see Aya giving love to a little friend.

Some Matsuura concert pictures!

During this summer she became age 21, and she became assistant host of Japanese talk show on TV, also made one more album! this is called Double Rainbow and will release in October, many more mature singer type songs like Naked Songs album! which I think is her best album so far, but new album will include many new songs and not so many repeat like Naked Songs.

hi Fumi, I will try to catch this concert. Recent concerts are on my interest, especially Aya who is one of my best japanese solo singer.

here she definitely looks mature young woman. maybe that what was missing to her and she made choice to change her aspect this whay. most of us have heard about Aya long time after she started to be famous, and we got a childish vision of her, regarding the amount of funny videos and TV shows she made when she was a teen.

Matsuura is definitely mature woman, although still fun and consistently great singer! She was making dinner concerts during Christmas holiday, she said having a very nice time with her fans!

Hot Express: I’ve actually believed that you’d overcome the status of an idol and become active as the artist Matsuura Aya one day. The first time I felt that way was when I watched the movie “Ao no Hono” which was shown in 2003. I’m sure playing the role of someone whose lover turns into a murderer was difficult, but you completely engrossed yourself into that role when you were acting, right?

Matsuura: The same was true for everyone around me. Director Ninagawa Yukio never gives an OK unless you’re totally into the role. The scenes I appear in were filmed a lot later than the ones with Nino, but still, I entered the set beforehand and studied by observation, etc. That way, I got to know the way everything works on the set. And since it was my first movie, I thought, “I want to make it a good movie”, “I want to do everything I can 100%”, so I created the role in my mind on my own. The director didn’t give me any directions at all. It felt like he was thinking, “I don’t understand young people nowadays anyway, so I’ll leave it to Ayaya and Nino. You can change the lines too, just play the roles the way you want. And teach me how kids nowadays think,” and I thought that I have to properly live up to his expectations. That’s why I always discussed everything with Nino. The director rarely allowed a second take, so we had to do everything right and get an OK on the first try. (laughs) But I’m glad that I met Ninagawa-san through that movie.

Hot Express: You’ve worked again as an actress several times after that. Do you feel the same kind of satisfaction as when singing?

Matsuura: I do. There’s a lot you learn from theater and musicals too. The way to speak, for example, and also how to put your feelings into acting. You can learn all that from observing the actors and actresses around you. There’s something to learn every time.
