Baek Ji-young

Baek Ji-young (born March 25, 1978) is a South Korean pop singer. She began her music career in 1999, splashing onto the Korean dance scene with her first album Sorrow. The first single, "선택" (Choice), was unusual in that it was one of the first Korean pop songs to feature Latin beats. However, this catchy single, complete with Baek's dancing skills and natural beauty, propelled her to the top of the charts. She quickly followed this album with a second, Rouge, which came out in April 2000, selling 360,000 copies [1] and cementing her status as one of Korea's most popular female dance artists.

Her career took a major hit, though, in the fall of that same year. A sex tape leaked out on the Internet featuring Baek having sex with her former manager in a hotel. The tape spread widely on the Internet, due to heavy media coverage and South Korea's status as a heavily "wired" country. A major scandal, Baek initially apologized, but then claimed that she had no knowledge of the videotape and refused to remain quiet. She released a third album, Tres, in June of the following year, and it sold a respectable amount of copies (the total close to 200,000 [2]). However, the scandal still plagued her; as a result, Baek took a break from the Korean music industry.

meanwhile, we have found a song of her, (Smile, 2003) which is a strong latino influence, but she sings and dances very well. best we can do for her is to promote some of her songs here. she's really cute too, it's not the worse thing to post some pictures of her at the same occasion.

occasionally, idols meet such problems, stolen video material and performed without their permission, that's a shame but there is no solution really. in first touch, il looks like the "so-called" scandalous video of Paris Hilton's (so-called) intimity, with the difference that Hilton is a pointless and useless person.

But her personal star (lite) express may have been derailed after a raunchy videotape of Baek in a bedroom romp with her former manager turned up on an Internet pay-per-view porn site on Nov. 19. Radio stations scrambled to pull her songs off the air and television stations canceled appearances. The shoe company put its Baek ads on hold. If the singer follows Korea's unspoken rule for disgraced celebrities, especially women, she will quietly walk off stage with her head bowed.

Baek Ji-young Smiles Again Six Years After Sex Scandal

Baek Ji-young has made a successful comeback after she was pitilessly ostracized by the public at the end of 2000, when a video clip that showed her having sex was put on the Internet. The title song of her new album released early this month (“I Won’t Fall in Love”) has topped all music charts both off- and online. It seems clear that she has at last purged herself of the label of “sex-video queen” after six years of hard work.
