Former superstar caught up in fight with U.S. authorities[/b]

Japanese singer Keiko Fuji, mother of pop diva Hikaru Utada, is embroiled in a fight with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) after it seized over 400,000 dollars from her at a New York airport earlier this year over doubts about its origin, it has emerged.

U.S. authorities have begun legal proceedings to make Fuji, 55, forfeit the roughly 420,000 dollars taken from her in March during a luggage search as she tried to board a plane from New York to Las Vegas in March this year.

Very annoying news. I'm just suprised of one thing. Almost everyone traveling to Las Vegas have in their wallet a consistant amount of cash. Why did the bank notes of Hikaru's mother smell narcotic substance (and not the wallet of the other travelers)

Arrested was Hikaru Utada’s mother, Junko Utada, was a singing star in her own right back in the day, but she now is operating under her daughter’s empire. This is only In Hikaru family’s defense, this could just be tax evasion money and nothing to do with drug money. The police claim of cocaine traces on the money is a cruel cop joke —all used $100 bills have drug traces on them.

I don't know if you have listened any of these Utada songs, but I have heard two of them during the last year, "Be My Last" and "Keep Tryin" and I like them both, especially "Keep Tryin" which is a very Japanese attitude song.

+fumi, the song Keep tryin' is on my playlist since this summer, I love this song (I love Hikki). knowing almost nothing what could be japanese attitude, I'll stand on your opinion. Keep tryin' should be the sentence stuck on our head nowadays.

Hikaru Utada latest news is: divorce!

This article from jpoparashi: Singer Utada Hikaru (24) and filmmaker Kiriya Kazuaki (38 ) have divorced. And it was revealed that her parents also divorced yet again last year - for the seventh time! Just as her marriage to Kiriya was announced on Hikki's website four and a half years ago, on Saturday she used the same website to reveal that they had divorced the previous day. She thanked fans for their support and apologized for the sudden announcement. She cited different views of the future and a lack of communication due to her busy international work schedule as the main reasons for the split. Kiriya posted his message on the same site, an indicator of the one-sided nature of their respective levels of success and fame.

The two met in 2000 during the design of the sleeve for Hikki's 7th single, "Can You Keep a Secret?" Two years later, she underwent surgery for ovarian cancer and just five months later they were married. They worked together in several different capacities, one being Utada's title song for "Casshern", Kiriya's 2004 debut as a movie director. He also supported her during her attempt the same year to break into the U.S. market. According to a friend of the couple, neither of them are particularly sociable or talkative types and so communication was a problem for them. Utada, whose parents have divorced and re-married each other a ridiculous seven times since 1981, was looking to him as an older man who could support her emotionally. She made no mention of the split during her live appearance on Friday's "Music Station", where she performed her new single "Flavor of Life". Bittersweet is probably the flavor one would use in English to refer to her life right now, though she referred to it as being like "green pepper tempura". (Yuck! my opinion. I guess hers too.)

nice to see you back here. how disturbing is this news, I've done nothing about Hikaru's private life yet. little I know is from the bank note scandal which was about her mother. funny is to think that Hikaru is not happy in her couple, but really, divorces are very common now. my parents are divorced too. not saying that it's normal but I prefer learning she left her husband rather than learning she could have been unhappy in a couple life. if love turn grey and every simple things lose taste, best is to stop being together. maybe she's better as single in her business world, I mean she could work with no other constraints by her own.

ouch, horrible thing this ovarian cancer, really she's catching all sort of bad events in her private life. truly collection of sad news.

well, saying that I jump on this, from her last album and song I've never heard before I love the song "Making love".

Utada is one of the Great Voices Of Japan, my opinion, although really she is from New York but parents are from Japan so she is citizen anyway.
