"Yuri" is what Lesbian romance in Japanese comic books (manga) and animation (anime) are called. It literally means "lily"; lilies traditionally symbolize Lesbianism in Japanese culture. (Chrysanthemums symbolize gay male romance.) It ranges from quite innocent schoolgirl crushes (shoujo ai) to explicit erotica (hentai).

Hello Eve,

X cunni is right (welcome back pravda kitten), Butch term is well known in urban sub-culture and associate with masculine lesbians. somewhat based on the falacious concept of lesbian couples have a female and a "male" as domination role. some couples are like that, other are two "femme" females. that's why I don't like butches, and this is quite reciprocal.

origine of the word should recal back to early 70th feminism and the dissertation about Judith Butler's book, the Gender trouble, who is the mum of the queer theory.
