Sukurappu hebun
(2005)

Aka : "Scrap heaven"

Realisateur : Sang-il Lee

Cast : Ryo Kase, Chiaki Kuriyama, Jo Odagiri, Akira Emoto, Akira Shoji, Takama Suzuki...

Musique : ...

Thème : Drame

Synopsis :
Les deux jeunes hommes partagent le même sentiment : "the world is shit".

Scrap Heaven,
This movie never appealed to me and I still have yet to see it. I've only read the previews before it came out and I was pretty much able to guess how it would go when I learned that Chiaki was a pharmacist with a glass eye. I don't even know if the movie even explains how she got her glass eye. I don't think it does. But once I learned that she was making bombs I said... ohh-okay so what do they blow her up? Does she blow herself up, what crafty Wily E Coyote way will she get killed this time.
So then when I heard that Joe Odagiri was in the movie I said well he's a pretty well-known Japanese actor, I guess and I say that only because I knew who he was already. Either way I didn't make any plans to buy it and call me petty or pessimistic, but when I saw the poster I noticed how she stands with a visible amount of distance between her and the two guys so I took it for what it was worth and said I'll skip this one.

hilarious expression. yes you're right as far as Chiaki is a champion for being killed in movies, I recognize the pertinence of you're reaction here. I had the same reflex too. honestly, I planed to watch this movie because I want to see all of her movies (dramas... it's an other story). I've been precautious to not read too much about this movie before watching it, as I done with Yokai daisenso too. but I had a deception with Scrap heaven.

I try to understand the whole thing now. one thing is sure, that she is not clearly dead at the end of the official (final) cut. she plays a physically handicapped person and I'm just wondering if she's not a bit mentally handicapped too. this is not in her usual character realm really. something changed for her in this movie.
