Ever since watching the film Cat Girl: Kiki I am seeing Japanese girls in cat outfits everywhere I look. Synchronicity, or were they always out there and I just failed to notice? Suspect

that's evidence, Japan have this unique gravure industry that is seen nowhere else on earth. the volume of daily pictures is astounding, and despite most of them are somewhat glamoureous there are some visible constants in themes. I've seen many neko-girls as selected theme, but perhaps more than bunny or maid as suggested by Flesh.

as a proud cyber feminist I will fall on the same conclusion, bad pictures could be degrading the image of women but replaced in the japanese context, a place where our western values are pitiful help of understanding, these series are fully integrated to common life behaviours. I'm not a manga/anime freak but I know there are numerous characters who are neko. we should never forget that Hello kitty is a cute female kitten. you'll find a legion of people arguing that when there is a kitty there are pussies (in double sense). what else ? nobody could change japanese view on some of their specificities.
