| NANA
Cast: Mika Nakashima, Aoi Miyazaki Director: Kentaro Otani Year Released: 2005 Duration: 113 Minutes
Theme: drama
Synopsis: This is live action movie which follows from very popular Japanese comic book (manga) by Yazawa Ai. This movie is starring Mika Nakashima, extremely popular singer, and well known actress Aoi Miyazaki. They are playing roles of two young women, age 20, who have same name but different personalities and dreams.
Nakashima plays Nana Osaki who is calm, cool, self controlled punk rock singer, she is trying out Tokyo music world to discover if she can become top rock star in all Japan! She will not let anything interfere with her dream, even ex-boyfriend. Miyazaki plays the other "Nana" who is Nana Komatsu. She is cute and cheerful and she becomes fall in love too quickly with wrong boys. She became fall in love with high school friend Junko, she follows him to Tokyo because he will attend art college. She wants to find love and happiness in big city, of course we all do, this is why we are so much affected by this kind movies!
These two Nanas meet together accidentally on train, and same strange kind of accident makes them sharing the same apartment. Although they seem like lucky for this, movie is about: can two very different people live together and get along, being friendly? Also of course, movie is about search for happiness they are dreaming about so long.
My opinion: this is dramatic movie with strong emotions, it is about some topic that is very close to me personally which is dream to become musician and singer, so I like this movie very much. Also music is excellent but of course because singing by Nakashima who is among Japan's best voices. Acting is very good, like most Japanese dramas, we like strong emotions that cannot be expressed properly so incomplete understand each other, I personally believe this is major difficulty of human life.
Mika Nakashima
Aoi Miyazaki

| Hello Fumiko,
thanks alot for posting this movie here, indeed this was to be done. from several months I expected to open it too. it's done now, fine fine.
I don't have this movie actually, I've attempt to find it but was worried because at the same time, the manga was on air. and it's seems there was several opuses of the nana idea (nana II). let's say the only one in our direct interest is this one, with Mika Nakashima and Aoi Miyazaki.
story is sweet, just aslike any ordinary stories dealing with the theme of two girls being together for some time. I understand far well how much you could be concerned yourself, and this is a valuable input in my view.
from this movie I've only seen the video excerpt Glamorous sky, in which Mika is a leather/inox neopunky singer.
more later.

| I believed it was a manga not a live action. Could be fun. |
