Paris (2003)
Realisateur : Ramin Niami
Cast : Ling Bai || Chad Allen || James Russo || Ron Jeremy (cameo) || Jeni Chua || Karen Black
Thème : drame ||
Synopsis : Detective Jason Bartok is a rookie cop saddled with the misery of partnering with an age cop as dirty and corrupt as they come. The rookie inadvertently shoots his partner on a shakedown and inherits a load of cash. His partners dying words instruct the rookie to give half the take to a mysterious Asian woman. With only a photograph to go on he unfortunately upholds his obligation and lands in a world of trouble. Sometimes good comes from bad choices, and here we see true love emerge from the tough exterior of the elusive Linda. However, for Linda/Shen Li, money is not enough. This woman’s sorry history dictates that she restore lost respect and honour. He devotion to an ideal makes a simple get-a-way very difficult and rife with danger.
Mon avis : Full credit has to go to Bai Ling and Chad Allen for making a paper-thin plot and reasonably poor editing as well as lacklustre direction a fine film to watch. Bai Ling positively shines in this sub-par production…and for me that made it all the more powerful, as her acting prowess was very strong. This film should have been left on the cutting room floor…but I am glad it wasn’t. Honestly, it’s one thing to shine in a finely directed film, but to act convincingly when all around you is mediocrity…now that’s performance.
While I do not recommend this film, my respect for Bai Ling’s ability continued to grow.
Oh, and why is the film called Paris? In an ideal world, this is where both of our hero’s want to go after their escape.
Tout public : Oui
Ma quote : 6.5/10

| Hello Prisoner,
yes indeed, seing Bai Ling again as star in a movie is exciting. she have been so good in Dumpling (which we have seen again last WE).
she's not being so much in the main cast but when she is, it's a firework.
